I’m pretty sure I have an obsession with food on a stick and candy eyeballs and so I’m thrilled with any project that incorporates both! And with Thanksgiving just a few days away, I thought this would be a fun project.
Here’s what you’ll need to whip up these Golden Oreo Turkey Pops:
- Double Stuff Golden Oreos
- Mini Nilla Wafers
- White Icing
- Candy Corn
- Lollipop Sticks
- Candy Eyeballs (If you don’t have candy eyeballs, you can use white icing and black icing to make eyes)
Take 6-8 candy corn and place them into the Oreo cookie as shown above. Depending on the thickness of your candy corn, you may need to remove one side of the cookie and cover it with icing to keep the cookie together.
Once you have your candy corn in your cookie, you can insert a lollipop stick into the other end. Lay flat on a cookie sheet or piece of wax paper to dry.
While your cookie is drying, ice the back of one Mini Nilla wafer and stick the Nilla wafer to the front of the Oreo. This is the head of your turkey.
Using icing, add your candy eyeballs and use part of a gummybear as a nose/wattle.
Let your turkey set for 20-30 minutes before handling it…otherwise you’ll have a dead turkey on your dining room floor (Unfortunately, this is what happened to the cutest of the turkeys I made. I was so excited that I took it into the living room to show my husband and sadly enough, my turkey met an untimely end.)
