Pinterest & Summer: It’s Going to Be Great!

Spring is here and summer is just around the corner (although it’s ridiculously cold here so you’d never know it). This year more than ever before I’m looking forward to summer. I’m pretty sure it has something to do with my interest in Pinterest. Seriously, Pinterest has me looking at things in a whole new light.

I’m planning summer cookouts in my head. I have all kinds of DIY decorations planned. I’ve decided on the perfect manicures and pedicures to get me through the summer. I’ve found adorable dresses and darling skirts. I’ve discovered fabulous shoes that make my heart go pitter-patter. I’ve even come across a bunch of recipes that are sure to delight my family this summer.

And while I know that for some people, Pinterest has created a spirit of discontent or a feeling of not measuring up, it’s had the opposite effect on me.  Pinterest has made me more creative and more apt to find new ways to save money.

After seeing so many cute summer decorations and fabulous hair bows, I’ve started sewing again and being crafty.  By the time this summer rolls around, I’ll probably be able to make some of those DIY Decorations I’ve been eying for my summer cookout. I’ve started painting my own nails and toenails.  I typically get my toes done a few times a year, but I never get manicures.  I usually have horrible looking unpainted nails.  After seeing so many cute manicures, I’ve started painting my own nails.  I’ve tried a variety of fun spring colors and someday soon I’m going to branch out to try some cute designs.  I’ve been hitting the sale racks and checking out the thrift stores to see if they have skirts or dresses that are similar to or could be embellished to look like the clothing I’ve pinned. I’ve been checking out shoes sales so that I can save on espadrilles with wedges that have been popping up in so many of my pins.  And I’ve been experimenting like crazy in the kitchen.  I’m trying all kinds of new recipes. And most of them have been a big hit.

I’m seriously loving Pinterest! So tell me…how has Pinterest changed you? Leave a comment.
